Artist and Rapper King Komodo does not shy away from being Kiwi. His music is so encompassing of Kiwiana he called up the Mad Bucher to get him on a track (true story) and has written a rap anthem in dedication to Pak’nSave. For the tenth episode of The Local Culture Show we take a look at the peripheries of the NZ hip hop scene, the difficulties involved in embracing one’s cultural heritage and what years of talking to strangers on the street has taught King Komodo.
The Local Culture Show explores the art, ideas and environment of people involved in everything from poetry and activism to street art and music. This podcast was recorded at and aired at Wellington Access Radio. Hosted by Solomon Powell and Ike Callaghan. Supported by NZ on Air.
