Episode Three – Tahini Bikini

Middle Eastern condiments seem to be popular amongst Wellington musicians. Following in the footsteps of Hummucide, yet another band has emerged from the aisles of the local Pak’nSave; Tahini Bikini. Listening to their groovy, stripped back tunes, many will be surprised to learn the band are actually a six-piece. Still, we managed to cram the group into a studio where we had a chat about their “salad funk”, whether or not there is a “Kiwi sound’ and what it feels like to be completely naked and covered in Tahini.

The Local Culture Show explores the art, ideas and environment of people involved in everything from poetry and activism to street art and music. This podcast was recorded and produced by the folks over at Wellington Access Radio. Hosted by Solomon Powell and Toby McWilliams. Supported by NZ on Air.
