Weaned on the isolation of the covid-19 lockdowns, BIRDCAGE are beginning to emerge from the recesses of their Kingston flat, bringing with them a sonic tidal wave of good old fashioned rock ‘n roll. “Both the rock and the roll are equally important”, explains Marcus (sax). We sat down with the slightly hungover band to discuss Chicken Run, Alien, The Beatles and how they ended up replacing Dartz at Twisted Frequency. Also, they gave us a sneak preview of their soon to be released EP; Too Much Time on Your Hands.
The Local Culture Show explores the art, ideas and environment of people involved in everything from poetry and activism to street art and music. This podcast was recorded at the BIRDCAGE flat and aired on Wellington Access Radio. Hosted by Solomon Powell and Toby McWilliams. Supported by NZ on Air.
